Day 3 (Monday): Palermo, Cefalù, Polizzi Generosa and Taormina.
This morning we depart for Cefalù, a charming coastal town, a former fishing village, which is also home to a breathtaking Norman Cathedral with dazzling mosaics. Take a stroll to the city center and down the main street to reach the Cathedral. Next, we drive across the vast countryside of the Madonie Park showcasing Sicily's great variety of micro climates. The territory of the Madonie mountains is a paradise of contrasts and a bit off the beaten track. We will visit Polizzi Generosa a delightful town nestled in the heart of the Madonie Natural Park. You will experience a simpler time viewing the ancient masseria transformed into a farmhouse, the flour mills utilizing the plentiful water supply of the area, and the furnaces still used today, to make ceramics. Enjoy a light lunch at a country trattoria tasting typical local dishes. This afternoon we will continue to Taormina, one of the principal resort towns of Sicily. (BB L)
Day 4 (Tuesday): Taormina.
A free day to relax, shop, explore, or take a swim in our clear azure waters. (BB)
Day 5 (Wednesday): Taormina and Catania.
Pack up your souvenirs and your memories, time to say goodbye to Sicily. Independent transfer to Catania airport. (BB)

Day 2 - Optional excursion to Segesta

Day 2 (Sunday): Palermo, Segesta and Palermo.
This afternoon's optional tour suggestion is Segesta, the least ruined ruin on the island looks as if it were built yesterday. Segesta's ancient Greek temple makes a valid claim to being the best preserved in the world, and its amphitheatre hilltop position on Mount Barbaro is Sicilies most stunning. The magnificent Doric temple stands as it was abandoned with a roof that was never added and unfluted pillars, is the highlight of the large archaeological park. The archaeological site reflects the presence of several ancient civilizations, beginning with the mysterious Elymians. Return to Palermo.
