Travelling in Sicily with us...

Later we continue to the slopes of Erice through the Via del Sale-Salt Way Road to see the historic saltpan works, where the ancient tradition of harvesting salt from the sea is still practiced. We will join Erice city centre. The Elymians settled the medieval town of Erice as an important religious site, associated with goddesses of fertility. Wander through its' ancient streets visiting some of the famous pastry
home made shops, Erice is world famous for marzipan candies and other delicacies like almond and pistachio pastry. In the afternoon, we drive to the country side to visit an Olive Oil Factory, the olive oil mills and for our tasting and cocktail. Later back to Palermo. (BB L)
Day 4 - Menfi and Agrigento.
Early departure to reach the southern part of Sicily. Our first stop will be in Dispensa Menfi. Here we will find one of the biggest Sicilian winery; very important for the great technologies and delicious wines. Visit of the cellars and wine tasting. Later, transfer to another important Sicilian winery for the visit and the wine tasting. The Baglio winery is situated on a promontory, which overlooks the Vallone, through which, in the homonymous land laying to the north-east of Menfi flows the S. Vincenzo River. The Baglio is surrounded with 12 hills between the Belice valley natural reserve and the Carboj valley, that degrade towards the Mar d' Africa. The landscape is characterized by the alternation of vineyards, olive groves, citrus orchards, brooms and daisies, carobs and a huge variety of prickly pears from Santa Margherita del Belice. The lunch will be served in the Baglio. During the afternoon we continue to Agrigento for a visit on your own to the Greek Temples Valley. Later, we depart to Leonforte near Enna, very famous for its rich production of citrus fruits and olive oil. Tonight, we lodge in Falconara, a typical resort that stands in place enriched by a magic atmosphere created by its proximity to the Medieval Castle of Falconara and the amazing beach side front. Tonight we enjoy our dinner at hotel. (BB L D)
Day 5 - Riesi and Butera winery.
Morning at leisure to rest or for a relaxed walk in the romantic beach in front of the resort. In the late morning transfer to the heart of Sicily to visit an important winery made by 320 hectares of splendidly exposed land, of which 180 hectares are planted with wines, situated entirely in the Riesi DOC production zone. The winery produces seven wines like: Nero d'Avola, Riesi, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay and Insolia. Another three wines are made with the aim of "producing great wines that demonstrate the fullest expression of the Sicilian land". Snack at winery. Later back to Falconara. Time for leisure. Tonight we will have a dinner at local restaurant. (BB D)
Day 6 - Vittoria Winery & Modica chocolate demonstration.
Today we will visit the south eastern part of Sicily to reach the heart of the Baroque valley. We soon arrive in Vittoria where Africa influence is still alive in the architectures, but also with the exotic vegetation: olive groves, carob and almond trees, vineyards. The winery is equipped with modern technologies: today their wines ferment with controlled temperature and age in barrique. Wine tasting and visit to the cellars. Later we continue to Modica crossing Ragusa and the great Ibla side of Sicily. Lunch at local restaurant where we will experience a great chocolate cooking demonstration. This afternoon departure to Taormina. (BB L)
Day 7 - Mount Etna, cooking class and winery.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Palermo.
Welcome to the warm, beautiful and pleasant island of Sicily! Upon arrival at Palermo airport please proceed through the Passport control and collect your luggage inside the customs area. Out of customs area you will find the driver who has the sign with your full name. Late in the afternoon meet the Driver-Escort for a Welcome drink and enjoy a Welcome Dinner at local restaurant with a wine tasting. (D)
Day 2 - Monreale Dome & Valle dello Jato Winery.
After breakfast, we will visit the Duomo of Monreale built in 1174 by William II, where the Arab-Norman art and architecture reached the pinnacle of its glory, representing the scene from the Old and New Testaments, all in golden mosaics. Then across the country side we will arrive in the Valle dello Jato, an important Sicilian site where strong wines and rich perfume have been produced, with a complex structure and long persistent finish. The white wines have powerful citrus fruit and floral notes on the nose, typical of the grapes of Catarratto, Grillo, Viognier and Chardonnay. The red wines are elegant and full of flavours of savoury red berry fruit which are typical of Nero d'Avola, Merlot and Syrah. On arrival visit to the winery and local wines tasting. Lunch at winery. During the afternoon back to Palermo. (BB L)
Day 3 - Wineries, Salt Way Road, Olive oil factory and Erice.
After breakfast, early departure to tour western Sicily. Arrive in Marsala and visit of two
enchanting landscape protected by a natural park you cannot miss the opportunity to visit if you are in Sicily. The Park extends from the peak of the volcano to the towns around it. We soon arrive in Castiglione di Sicilia: the ancient colonial house transformed in farmhouse and the owner Mamma
Rosaria will welcome us at her masseria. She will introduce us her kitchen and ....start the cooking class!!!!! At the end of the course we will enjoy the light-lunch tasting made by typical local Etna dishes. Time to rest. During afternoon a short drive takes us to a winery located in the lovely village of Santa Venerina. This estate also produces olive oil, grappa, sparkling wine and local food. Visit to the cellars and tasting local wine. Later back to Taormina (BB L)
Day 8 - Taormina.
All day long at leisure to explore by yourself the town or for shopping in the city centre. Tonight we gather for a Farewell Dinner at local restaurant (BB D)
Day 9 - Catania.
Time to say goodbye to Sicily. We will be transferred to Catania Airport (CTA) for our return flight. (BB)
