Sunday: Welcome to Sicily.

Arrival in the morning at the international airport of Catania Fontanarossa, welcome by our tour leader and transfer by bus to our hotel in Siracusa. Check in with welcome drink at the hotel. Free time to freshen up followed by a stroll into Siracusa city centre (Ortigia). Back to the hotel and good Sicilian menu dinner. Overnight at the hotel in Siracusa.

Monday: Wine Tasting on the main road of Noto, chocolate tasting at Modica.

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, meet our tour leader and driver to take you to Noto, splendid baroque city on the South coast of Sicily. While strolling along the main road with the aid of illustrated materials supplied by us, we stop at a local wine bar and have a tasting of a fine Sicilian wine of own production, accompanied by a tasting of exquisite regional finger-food. After the wine tasting we walk back to our bus and proceed to Modica, a fascinating baroque jewel. Here we stop again for a tasting of the Modica chocolate, peculiar delicious product made after the Aztec recipe! We then continue to our hotel in Siracusa, give free time and free dinner. Tuesday: Wine tasting and Ragusa Ibla.

This morning we have a special visit: we are going to reach the Vittoria area, home to the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOC wine. We leave in the morning to drive by our bus along the south coast until we reach the selected winery. Once there, welcomed by their staff, we go for a visit of the Cantina, which is home to a very special Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOC: the fermentation of this wine is done in Giare (amphorae) of terracotta! The wine tasting will be accompanied by local finger-food, such as cold cuts, cheeses... After the wine tasting it will be time to reach Ragusa Ibla, the oldest and most fascinating part of the town. Here we’ll go for a visit to the most fascinating churches and buildings with the aid of material supplied by us and then we’ll drive back to our hotel and have dinner in a cosy local restaurant. Wednesday: The Archaeological Park.

It has been a fine time in Siracusa but now it is time to go. We check out and get on board of our bus and pay a visit to one of the wonders of this town: the Archaeological Park with its Greek Theatre, its Roman Amphitheatre and the so called “Paradise” Quarry, a guided tour with a local guide. We shall then leave Siracusa and head to Catania. Once in Catania we check in at the hotel and have lunch there. Free afternoon for all, visiting the city with the aid of our illustrated materials. We then gather at the lobby of the hotel and walk to dinner in a local restaurant.

Thursday: The wild side of the Etna volcano, the Etna wines and the Alcantara gorges.

We leave Catania on board of our bus for an unforgettable excursion on Etna Volcano visiting the Ragabo Wood, the Alcantara Gorges and the most massive lava eruption of last decades. Our first stop will be at Piano Provenzano, by the most massive lava casting of last decades, then we proceed to an alpine shelter, where we stop for a cappuccino. From here we move further to a fascinating wine farm on the volcano. We start with a visit to the producing and aging areas, then we move to their wine tasting facilities for a delicious tasting of wines with Sicilian finger-food. After this wine tasting we proceed to the Alcantara Gorges, visiting the canyons. We then transfer back to the hotel and give free time.Tonight free dinner, within short walking distance from the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Catania.

Friday: Catania, the Black City.

After breakfast at the hotel we gather together with our tour leader and reach the city centre with a short stroll. Once there, we stop at the traditional Fish Market, a place full of colours, voices and all the “heat” of Mediterranean people! After the visit we stop at one of the nice cafes and have a tasting of a famous Sicilian specialty. We then walk back to the hotel and give free time in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Catania.

Saturday: Free time, the Pearl of the Mediterranean and the folk dinner.

It is our last full day in Sicily, so we take it really easy! Breakfast at the hotel, free time for own lunch.We then meet again at the hotel right after lunch and head to Taormina, for an own walking visit with the aid of our illustrated materials; there will also be free time for shopping.

In the late afternoon we move to our special dinner: tonight we are going to take our guests to a famous folk restaurant nearby Taormina! At arrival here we shall have a welcome drink followed by a very nice fish dinner. After dinner we drive back to the hotel in Catania for overnight.

Sunday: Goodbye to Sicily.

It has been a great time here in eastern Sicily, and now it is time to fly back home! We have breakfast at the hotel, and then we check out and drive to Catania airport for our flight back home. Arrivederci Sicilia!
